GORDONSVILLE, VA - JUNE 22, 2004 -- It's the horse show you will not want to miss. For the last 23 years the Oakland Heights Farm 4th of
July Horse Show has brought excitement and fun to Orange County. This 4th of July horse show benefiting diabetes research will be no
different. The event will bring lots of horses, entries and fans. The Orange County 4-H Horse Shoe Club is busy preparing for this
fun-filled event.
David and Sally Lamb, owners of Oakland Heights Farm, will host the annual horse show beginning at 8:30 a.m. The show will feature
competitions in two divisions:
Hunter: Judges evaluate the horses as their riders guide their mounts over a series of obstacles.
Equitation: The skill of the rider is evaluated, rather than the horse.
The show offers fun for the entire family. Not only will you be able to watch the riders compete, barbeque and other specialties will also
be available. General admission is free. This event will surely be one of Orange County's most colorful and memorable events this summer.
A silent auction benefiting the Islet Replacement Research Foundation will be held. The IRRF is a voluntary nonprofit grant maker and
supporter of diabetes research. It supports ambitious research projects to find a cure for Type 1 (juvenile) Diabetes. All funds raised
will be matched by PBM Products in Gordonsville.
The Orange County 4-H Horse Shoe Club won a national award in Colgate-Palmolive's 31st annual search for the country's best community
projects by young Americans for their efforts in presenting last year's 4th of July Charity Horse Show. The club's project was chosen from
among more than 2,000 entries.
